Activity Description
Take an intro flight with an experienced tandem flight instructor. This no-pressure fun experience is the most straightforward introduction to the world of free flight. Our Cape Town flights are conducted from Signal Hill or Lions Head.
What is a tandem paragliding intro flight?
A tandem paragliding flight takes place using a glider and other equipment designed specifically for two people to fly together. By joining us on an intro flight you will be securely attached to the tandem paraglider alongside your instructor. Your instructor is a qualified National Flight Instructor, approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority.
Our intro flights are the first step taken towards getting your paragliding pilot’s license. It is ideal for those who would love to try paragliding out but are unsure if they want to commit to the Beginners Basic License Training Course. This flight is the first lesson in our training program. The goal of our intro flights is to show you just how achievable it is for you to learn how to do this and get your license to fly solo.
A tandem paragliding flight with us is more than just arriving and flying. Ria is a National Flight Instructor with almost 20 years of air sports experience. He’s an accomplished skydiver, base jumper and paragliding pilot. As someone who started off with a fear of heights, you can trust that our system is built to ensure that your flight is safe, educational, and fun!
Our focus is on a quality learning experience. We do not accept group bookings (for the same time slot). This one-on-one session ensures that you will have your instructor’s full attention. Every flight starts with a little bit of paperwork, and a pre-flight briefing, before moving on to the actual flight. During the flight, your instructor will introduce you to the basics of paraglider control and various forms of lift. We make an extra effort on every flight to gain as much altitude as possible, thereby giving you the best opportunity to maximise this experience. If you so desire, we’ll also do some acrobatics along the way (steep turns and/or spirals). The goal of the flight is for us to expose you to as many aspects of paragliding as we possibly can, all while making sure that you are safe, and having fun. After the flight, your instructor will debrief you on the flight and provide you with the next steps in continuing with your training to get your license to fly solo.
