Customer Reviews

Thank you so much for taking such great care of my guests. They loved their Camissa Township Experience. Thank you also for your amazing professionalism. I will definitely be booking with Camissa again. - Richard

The tour was a very valuable experience for me. To be honest, I had my doubts beforehand, as I did not want to be a voyeur, but the info on your website convinced me to still go and be your guest. I believe the way you do the tours is very sincere and it looks like the community does benefit from these tours. Both the driver/guide and the guide walking with us were very keen to share stories and answer our questions. It was very convenient that we were picked up and dropped off! I have a few minor recommendations to further improve the tours (even though the tour was absolutely excellent): - Pick-up: maybe write in the confirmation message that due to the traffic in Cape Town, the pick-up can be late (or inform participants through whatsapp about any delay). Our minibus did not have any Camissa sign or logo on it. No big deal, but maybe in that case, it is good for the driver to carry a piece of paper with Camissa on it, so the participants are sure that they get on the right bus :) - Home visits: It did feel awkward that there was a bowl for donations on the table when we entered. It would be good to tell the participants beforehand that there is a possibility to donate to the families, and how many homes we will visit, so the participants are prepared. I was wondering afterward if the families we visited do actually get some money from Camissa for our visits. Also, I was wondering if there is another way to deal with the donations, for example to give money for the families to the guide. I am happy to support the families, and I did donate something, but it felt a bit as if we were paying to enter the living room. Once more, this was an excellent tour and a valuable experience (so do not take the suggestions as criticism)! Feel free to contact me again if you need any clarification or further information, I'd be happy to answer! - Maaike

It was a very nice and interesting tour. Very well organised incl. pick up from our guest house in Cape town. Very friendly tour guides. We definitely can recommend this tour. - Christian

The tour was so informative. It has really made a huge difference to my understanding of the reality and impact that the areas act had and still continues to have on the black population. It was heart warming to see how people live in the true sense of a community. People really know and look out for each other. There was a lot of kindness and positivity displayed but also lots of hardship. It is important that people take these tours. It is only through mutual education and understanding that we can improve lives for the better. Thank you to the driver and the walking guide. They were both excellent. - Deborah

The Township Tour in Langa was really impressive. The driver told us a lot on our way to Langa but was sometimes hard to understand in the car. The local tour guide was also very friendly and he told us amongst other things about the history of this township and took us to a lot of places. We even visited his own hostel and met a very nice and hospitable old lady. Unfortunately we didn't meet any children or school because the primary school was still closed due to the holidays. It was overall an unforgettable experience and we hope to be able to visit Langa again in the future to see things have been changed for the better. Thank you for organizing this! - Jacqueline
