On Sundays, we include a visit to a Township Gospel Church (approximately 45 minutes) into our regular Township Tour. This is our most popular tour and seats are limited at church we immense you to the Gospel singing and dancing
Church is an important part of social life in township communities and a great reflection of the social cohesion existing in the Township communities we have built relationships with a number of churches in different communities we invites you to attend an uplifting South African gospel experience with a vibrant and dynamic young congregation
Here the warm welcome of the congregation and their vibrant voices, will echo in your heart, long after you have left Cape Town.
Please Note: from the start of the holiday season in summer many people in township communities go back home in rural Eastern Cape mostly as such churches have fewer members of the congregation and resolve to one service commencing at 8 AM. This was one of the most interesting and unique activities we did in Cape Town during our visit over the Christmas holidays. To visit a township on the outskirts of the city was a privilege and exceptional experience, as these places are not usually safe or accessible to visitors on a casual basis. To learn about the challenges that the black community faces and the type of lives of the residents of Langa township was truly humbling and gave us an in-depth perspective on what might be described as the underbelly of South Africa. We were welcomed by the residents and joined their Sunday gospel church singing/prayers. While the tragedy of poverty was evident, the local guide and resident was cheery, positive, entertaining and extremely articulate in giving us this insight. We were highly impressed by this trip and embraced by those we met. If you decide to go, make sure you contribute financially and as generously as possible, as every cent makes a difference to the quality of life of these disenfranchised people. - Louise
Langa Township Tour with Langa Gospel Church was one of the most impressive and inspiring experiences we ever had. It was so authentic and the people were very friendly and kind. We would live to come back. - Sabine
It was a geat tour and both guides were excellently. Really appreciated the way they explained everything and loved the gospel visit - Serge
The trip fulfilled our ecpectations: correct and pleasant. And we learned a lot - Ben
When visiting South-Africa, we wanted to get a complete image of the country. This meant, also seeing one of the townships where so many south-africans still live. However, it was important for us to do this in a respectful way, really visiting the township and not just "sightseeing". Camissa helped us accomplish this. By visiting the township on foot with a local guide who actually lives there, we got a very interesting perspective on the community. Lebo took us on a walk through the several areas of the township and gave us a lot of information. Adding the Gospel experience to our tour, gave it that something extra. Visiting a place where we normally wouldn't be able to come but were very welcomed. Furthermore, part of the income from the tours goes back to the township so we definitely recommend Camissa for booking tours in and around Capetown. - Sarah
