*NOTE!
We occasionally invite a local Graffiti Writer to join so you can get first-hand knowledge of the graffiti scene in South Africa…their attendance is entirely subject to their availability and there’s no guarantee that they’ll join on your scheduled tour!
All children under 18 years old must be accompanied by at least one (1) adult for the whole tour.
Please make sure to let us know beforehand if you plan on bringing u18s on the tour!
I recommend without heistation this tour for anyone interested in local history and street art. I'm aware that visitors to Johannesburg are nervous about possible crime however, as a solo, female octagenarian visitor from London I can say that at no time did I feel at risk or uncomfortable at all. I was sent comprehenive information about the meeting place and the guide leading the tour. As it happened, I was the only person on the tour and spent a wonderful afternoon with the guide, Ayanda. Ayanda shared his insights and knowledge about Johannesburg, the artists, the artwork and the messages conveyed by the artwork, it's positioning and much more. A perfect host and guide. This tour is such a pleasure, and I highly recommend it. Also, you don't have to ride a skateboard--you can just walk! On this tour, you get an on-the-ground and in situ walk through Johannesburg streets and neighborhoods looking at graffiti art (of course) and also a surprise: tons of Johannesburg history.
