Local is Lekker food tour: The best of Cape Town in 3 hours

Cape Town

Activity Description

On this incredible 3-hour walking tour food tour, we will introduce you to some of Cape Town’s favorite culinary experiences, as we take you from award winning locations to local settings this is a tour not to be missed as we ensure by the end of this tour you truly feel welcomed in the Mother City feeling.

There is no denying the fact that in the Mother City, coffee is culture.

Of course, we’re starting off our tour at Cape Town’s favorite coffee destination, Truth Coffee . Voted the best coffee shop in the world in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by The Daily Telegraph, there is no denying that Truth has taken the global coffee world by storm. In addition to great coffee, their steampunk-themed interiors creates an industrial-chic space that is bound to make you feel right at home.

Follow up with Cape Town’s favorite Bakery at Charley’s Bakery, Home of Charly’s Cake Angels, situated in District 6, Charly’s Bakery is a family run business, started by Charly and Jacqui Biess in 1989.

At Charly’s Bakery they believe that the world is run on love, laughter and cupcakes! and we will try a MUCKING AFAZING designer cupcake.

Visit the oldest fruit bearing vine in the Southern Hemisphere at the Cape Heritage which dates back to 1771, while enjoying a taste of South African cuisine, with South Africa’s National dish while enjoying and a glass of wine, while taking-in the magnificent views of the courtyard at the Heritage Square.

One of our favorite stops, along the route is at the Honest Chocolate Cafe, owned by two friends Anthony and Michael who believe in the bean to bar theory with a taste of some of Cape Town’s well known “Don’t be scared of the dark, because dark dreams are only made from dark chocolate, at Honest Chocolate” for a chocolate tasting

Next a visit to the vibrant Bo-Kaap community and a visit to the oldest spice store in Cape Town, Atlas Spice, and find out along the way the vital role that food had to play, in the early establishment of Cape Town along the spice route, and a enjoyable walk around the community learning about the history, culture we will have a stop at a local residents home.

As we take you from the very heartbeat of Bo-Kaap and look beyond the colourful homes found in the community, with local Cape Malay platter and a local food tasting and tea at Faeez’s home kitchen, including a local koesisters which are traditional Sunday morning treats in Cape Town,

This is certainly a tour not to be missed.
