Guided bicycle tour through Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch

Activity Description

This tour combines the beautiful scenery and sites of Historic Stellenbosch with excellent wine pairings and some healthy outdoor exercise.

The tour starts 9:00 at the Adventureshop office. Each rider will collect a bike and helmet to suit their size. E-Bikes also available. The guide will have space in the backpack for those who would like to buy wine en-route.
The tour starts with a historic tour of Stellenbosch, visiting some of the historic sites in town. We will cycle through Stellenbosch and head to the scenic Jonkershoek valley. A winding road through oak and poplar forests will take you to a wine estate nestled in the valley bottom, here you can take in the stunning views while doing wine tasting of award winning wines on an island in a lake.
On the way out of the valley, you will stop at another wine estate which sports beautiful grounds and historic Cape Dutch architecture. Here we will do a cellar tour before we start our Chocolate and Wine pairing that will make your taste buds tingle.

After the tasting we will head back into Stellenbosch Town via the Stellenbosch University before ending the tour again at our office

There are some variations to the route, with varying levels of difficulty so the tour can be tailored to suit your cycling ability. Family tours can also be booked.
NEW: Option to do the tour on an E- bike at an additional cost.

Children under 3 years are free (cycle in baby seat with parents). Children in a buggy or half bike – R1100. Children who cycle on their own, full rate. Children will do Chocolate and Ice tea tasting.

Customer Reviews

Great experience and very nice, discrete and knowledgable guide Perfect combination between fun, historical and wine related facts + tasting. Cheers - Dirk

Booked a bike tour of Stellenbosch and the Winelands to see and more of this lovely piece on earth. We were just the two of us and had Xavi as happy and very knowledgeable guide. The bikes and helmets we used were in good condition. First we had a look around Stellenbosch, then we went to two wine tastings. The wine we bought Xavi very gallantly took in his bag pack on the way back. We were on the road for more than four hours and it was a great experience! - Terese

We had a wonderful day. First we cycled around in Stellenbosch, we saw all the highlights and got a lot of interesting explanations from the guide. Then we cycled through a nature reserve and as icing on the cake we had 2 wine tastings in 2 different wineries. The cycling was very pleasant and not too heavy, everyone was waited for. We got good bikes and for those who wanted it there were electric bikes. Everything was well organized. It was a nice experience, we enjoyed it vert much! An excellent way to visit Stellenbosch. - Iris

We really enjoyed the cycle tour. It is a great way of moving through a beautiful small town that is so rich in history. Saveriani was a great tour guide with good knowledge and facts about his subject. The wine and chocolate pairing was also well worth it. We met nice people on the tour which made it more fun too! - Andrew

We were completely blown away by our knowledgeable guide Sav, as well as, the service we received from Ashten. Sav's knowledge of local history is incredible and was delivered in a way that our kids could picture being there at the time. His patience with our family (teenagers) was appreciated. - Fiori
