Ocean Wildlife Encounter Voucher

Cape Town

Activity Description

Ocean Wonder is an owner-run service that offers boat-based Ocean Wildlife Encounters. These intimate trips don’t follow any set route. Instead, I’m guided by my understanding and ongoing observation of this environment, the creatures in it, and the ever-changing water and weather conditions.

These trips are all about finding and, where possible, interacting with some of the amazing creatures that frequent the rich waters around Cape Town.

Notes

Close encounters of the amazing kind
These trips are all about finding and, where possible, interacting with some of the amazing creatures that frequent the rich waters around Cape Town.

Expert Guided trips
There’s no set route. We’ll go where we can to find our oceanic friends. Normally it’s in the Table Bay area. I’m guided by local knowledge of the weather, the ocean and the patterns and movements of creatures in it.

Incredible environment
Besides the amazing animals that we encounter, it’s a really fun boat ride in an incredibly beautiful environment. The views of Table Mountain and Robben Island are amazing too.

The boat Ocean Wonder
Ocean Wonder is a 7.2m Ballistic semi-rigid inflatable (SRI), powered by 2 × 90hp Yamaha motors. She’s very safe and has been approved by The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) as a commercial charter boat, allowed to carry up to 11 passengers. She’s furnished with all the required safety equipment and more.

Customer Reviews

Unforgettable experience. Paul was very kind and explained everything. It was unbelievable to see all these wales at no distance. the peace and quiet of the ocean and hearing and seeing these big and beautiful creatures was just mind blowing. - Renee

We had an amazing trip - exhilarating and fun and Paul is really informative. As things were a bit choppy and quiet on the wildlife front as we went out, Paul changed the route and we saw penguins, lots of seals, had dolphins come alongside the boat and the highlight was a breaching whale! We also had several Ibis fly overhead and with the sun shining through their wings they looked amazing. Great views of Robbin Island and Table Mountain and as we finished the trip, a white knuckle whizz around the bay especially for Edith! Thank you Paul - we had a fabulous time. - Kerry

Fantastic experience - the guides (sorry can't remember names!) were very friendly, knew so much about local wildlife, and made us feel reassured and looked after should we experience sea sickness. One of the best things we did in Cape Town - memories for a lifetime! - Joanna

We enjoyed the experience so much, we did it twice! First time we went out with Paul and saw dolphins, seals and a humpback whale which breached right in front of us close to Robben Island. Second time was with Rob and we were really lucky to run into a large pod of of common dolphins near Clifton. What an experience as they raced us through the waters, jumping and interacting. A really special thing to see. Paul and Rob are excellent guides; friendly, knowledgable and fun. They're really easy to find - just a few minutes walk from the V&A Waterfront. First time was myself and my wife and the second time we chartered the boat for our family. I have already recommended them to friends and family who are visiting and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest you make them part of your Cape Town plans. They really are excellent. - Matthew

We had an amazing morning on the boat with Paul, his passion and knowledge were evident and we enjoyed the experience all the more because of it. The hours flew by with sightings of seals, dolphins, penguins, numerous birds and some shy whales too. A magical experience and highly recommended. - Cressida
