One of Panthera Africa’s main purposes is to be an educational platform where we create awareness about the conditions big cats face in captivity, and how animal welfare and enrichment plays a vital role in giving them the best captive life possible. We are a true sanctuary where no cub petting, breeding or trading takes place.
On our educational visits you have the chance of capturing photographs of the big cats in their beautiful Natural homes, and get to know about their unique stories, in addition to the important facts about the species and their different situations. We strongly believe in the importance of educating you about animal welfare and conservation, so together with a staff member you will be taken for a lovely walk whilst admiring the beautiful cats.
We ask you kindly to arrive 15 minutes prior to your visit.
We look forward to sharing our dream with you, and to introducing you to our four legged friends!

"I felt love in this place! Panthera Africa is doing an amazing job. The rescued animals are in perfect condition. Our guide from the UK was excellent and answered all of our questions. Panthera Africa is a place you should visit and support." - Radka
Very good experience! Already recommended it to other travellers. The work you do is really good. - Florian
We had an amazing time. The big cats are beautiful, majestic creatures and appeared truly content in their homes. Our guide (small lady, I'm terrible with names) was excellent and clearly passionate about her work. We loved learning about the cats' individual personalities and histories. They seemed to love seeing people and would come up and talk or roar (in a friendly way!) at us. 10/10 would recommend. You cannot come to Hermanus/Stanford area without seeing this. - Robert
Very Interesting and Knowledgeable and it was great to hear of the progress. It's a pity Mr Rays was on the down low that day but managed to see all the other Cats. - Paul
It was an amazing experience to visit Panthera Africa. The stories that Freedom told us were heartbreaking. I will forever remember how Nathan laid, like a huge kitten, on his back. He did this after Freedom told us his horrific background. He was so content. I wear my sweater with pride and encourage people to visit you. Thank God there are people like you in this cruel world. - Annetjie
